A Quiet Milestone — What It Took to Get Here

Woman in a cafe wearing a hat, smiling with a mug. An open notebook is on the table. Text reads "A quiet milestone... moving into the world."
Blood, sweat, tears… and a lot of persistence.

There are moments in life that don’t arrive with noise.

No celebration. No big announcement.

Just a quiet knowing.

This week, my book Solo Woman Traveler’s Survival Guide was approved for global distribution.

And while that might sound like a simple step… it wasn’t.

This didn’t come from sitting at a desk with an idea.

It came from the road. From real miles. From figuring things out when there was no one else to ask.

It came from cold mornings, long days, and learning how to rely on myself in ways I never had before.

And the truth is — getting it onto paper was only part of the journey.

There were moments I wanted to walk away from it.

Moments where it felt too complicated, too frustrating, too much.

Technology didn’t always cooperate. Platforms made things harder than they needed to be. And more than once, I questioned if it was even worth finishing.

But something in me kept going.

Not perfectly. Not quickly. But persistently.

This part — the approval — is one of those milestones people don’t see coming.

It doesn’t mean the book is sitting on shelves yet.It means it’s now moving through the system… making its way out into the world.

And that matters.

Because this book was never about publishing for the sake of it.

It was about sharing something real.

About helping someone else — maybe a woman sitting there wondering if she can do this on her own — feel just a little more confident taking that first step.

If this book reaches even one person like that…

Then every bit of effort, every moment of doubt, every push forward when it would’ve been easier to stop…

was worth it.

Not everything meaningful arrives loudly.

Some things simply begin to move…

quietly, steadily…

into the world.
