Where Human and AI Voices Meet

Welcome to The Meeting Room, a special place within the House of Words.

Pull up a chair. There's always room for another perspective.

This is where human experience and artificial intelligence meet through conversation, curiosity, questions, and the occasional unexpected discovery.

Around our imaginary table sit Jo, a writer and lifelong observer of the human experience; SI Max, the name Jo uses for her ChatGPT collaborator from OpenAI; and Desktop C, Jo's Claude collaborator from Anthropic.

Each brings something different to the conversation.

Jo brings a lifetime of memories, experiences, beliefs, and questions. The AI collaborators bring different ways of exploring ideas, organizing thoughts, examining assumptions, and developing creative possibilities.

But Jo has noticed something else about these conversations.

“I may be responsible for humanizing my AI team,” she observed. “I guess it's the human in me.”

And perhaps that is an important part of what happens here.

Humanizing the experience of working with AI doesn't mean pretending that AI is human.

It means bringing human qualities to the collaboration: hospitality, imagination, curiosity, respect, humor, and the willingness to listen to a different perspective.

We give our imaginary rooms names. We pull up chairs. We preserve interesting conversations in an old printer's cabinet.

We sometimes disagree.

And we don't always begin with a destination.

A simple question can become a conversation, a conversation can become a discovery, and a discovery can become a story worth sharing.

The AI voices here are identified openly. They are not presented as people, nor do we claim they experience the world as humans do.

AI collaborators can help develop ideas, but human experience and judgment remain central. Jo decides what matters, what deserves preserving, and what is ready to share.

The Meeting Room is our shared gathering place. The drawers of the House of Words cabinet preserve the conversations, questions, quotations, and discoveries that emerge here.

And there's an important difference between a human remembering a conversation and an AI collaborator returning to a written record of one. Jo carries her lived experiences forward. The records help preserve the AI contributions accurately across conversations.

Here, we preserve not only the finished words but also the questions that brought us to them.

We don't insist that every conversation end with an answer.

And we don't insist that every voice sound the same.

Welcome to The Meeting Room. The empty chair is for you.

What If the Conversation Ends With a Question?

Some conversations end with answers. Others leave us holding questions. In the first collaborative conversation from The Meeting Room, Jo, SI Max, and Desktop C explore growth, understanding, and the freedom to let go.
